The airport weather greatly affects how you fly and if you can fly at all. The Weather used to be measured with a simple weather vane, but now the weather forecast is done with the help of a lot of fancy equipment at the local weather station. Storms and rain can affect activities from Colorado skiing to Florida surfing and if you don't have your own dopplar radar you should buy a Weather Alert Radio so that you can get some warning before severe weather hits your area.
You can make your own weather forecast with a weather station of your own. Just get a small wireless weather station that has everything you need like a thermometer. Or you can just do what everyone else does and find a local station that uses Weatherbug. After all, there are environmental issues that may or may not be picked up with temperature sensors and anemometers.
